H Santander γίνετε η πρώτη τράπεζα που χρησιμοποιεί πληρωμές μέσω ενός Blockchain συστήματος

H Βρετανική τράπεζα Banco Santander SA’s U.K  μέλος του Ισπανικού ομώνυμου τραπεζικού ομίλου είναι η πρώτη τράπεζα που θα χρησιμοποιήσει και επίσημα για πρώτη φορά ένα Blockchain σύστημα για την μεταφορά κεφαλαίων. Συγκεκριμένα θα τρέξει ένα πιλοτικό πρόγραμμα μεταφοράς κεφαλαίων μέσω του Ripple Blockchain συστήματος σε συνεργασία με ένα mobile apple app με τα fiat κεφάλαια να μεταφέρονται μέσω του apple pay.

Today Santander announced that they are the first U.K. bank to introduce Ripple’s blockchain technology to facilitate international payments through a new app. They are rolling it out as a staff pilot, with the intention to expand the technology at a later date.

Once the app is downloaded, Santander staff just need to complete their profile details and then they can start to make payments. It connects to Apple Pay, where users can confirm payments securely using Touch ID. It lets users transfer between £10 and £10,000 and payments can be made from GBP to EUR and USD. At this time, payments made in EUR can be sent to 21 countries and US dollar payments to the U.S.

Στο πρόγραμμα θα συμμετέχουν οι 6 χιλιάδες εργαζόμενοι του τραπεζικού ομίλου ενώ το όριο μεταφοράς θα είναι 10 εώς 10.000 λύρες ημερησίως με τις πληρωμές να εκκαθαρίζονται σχεδόν άμεσα.

“It’s the first time a U.K. bank has sent payments of this type via Ripple and launched it as a commercial service,Many people are doing lab style experiments, the key difference here is about getting real people to send real money for real purposes. I just paid my wife, who is Spanish, some money to a Spanish bank account this morning.”

Το Blockchain σύστημα της Ripple είναι ένα private δίκτυο που χρησιμοποιεί το ομώνυμο XRP (ripples) ψηφιακό νόμισμα.
